How Much Does Epoxy Flooring Cost Per Square Foot?

Epoxy is a robust floor coating that protects concrete floors from damage, stains and wear. This specialized material can be applied to concrete surfaces at different thicknesses and with a variety of finishes. It is relatively inexpensive compared to other concrete resurfacing options and lasts for several decades with minimal maintenance.

The cost of epoxy flooring cost per m2 depends on the type and style of finish chosen, as well as extras like anti-slip grit or decorative flakes. A standard, single coat of clear epoxy costs $40 per square foot, while a second coat doubles that price. A primer can also be added to improve adhesion and reduce the amount of epoxy needed to cover the floor.

Budgeting for Quality: Determining Epoxy Flooring Cost per Square Meter

Labor accounts for 33% to 60% of the total cost, depending on the complexity of the project. Professionals use industrial equipment that speeds up application and ensures a high-quality result. They can also spot repair and cleaning issues before they become more serious. Labor costs may increase if the project is in a difficult-to-reach or confined space. Weather is also a factor, as epoxy doesn’t bond properly when wet or exposed to extreme heat or humidity.

Water-based epoxy costs from $30 to $50 per gallon and is low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs). It’s not as durable as solvent-based epoxy, however, and should be sealed every 5 to 7 years. Solid epoxy is more expensive at $45 to $150 per gallon but has a long lifespan and resists chemicals and temperature extremes.
