REI Card Rewards – Are They Worth It?

The outdoor gear retailer REI is a Mecca for those who love to climb, camp and kayak. But what’s even more enticing is the co-op’s annual dividend, which dishes back 10% of members’ total spending on eligible full-price items.

What are 2 examples of credit card benefits?

The rei card rewards Mastercard and the REI Credit Card both earn these member rewards, but they also come with other perks that make them worth considering for outdoors enthusiasts. For starters, both cards waive foreign transaction fees (a rare feature for retail cards).

Additionally, the REI Mastercard and REI Credit Card allow members to use their rewards right away, rather than waiting for the annual dividend in March. And while the one-time $30 card fee can be a little steep, REI’s return policy and extra sales can help offset that cost.

Lastly, the REI Mastercard and REI credit card both give members the option to book REI Co-op Experiences, including multi-day guided trips and outings with outdoor experts. And though the sign-up bonus isn’t market-leading, the REI Mastercard offers new cardholders a $100 REI gift card after their first out-of-store purchase on the card.

While the REI cards have plenty of benefits, they aren’t the best credit card for everyone. If you’re not a REI member and prefer a more flexible cash-back card, there are other options that offer better rewards for non-REI purchases. You can even earn a decent amount of rewards with the Citi Double Cash Card, which doesn’t charge any foreign transaction fees.
